Victor Levai is an artist born in 1991 in Auvergne, France. He lives and works in Paris. After an initial education in mechanical engineering, he turned towards the visual arts and entered the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris, where he specialised in sculpture and graduated in 2017.
His artistic practice develops from a close observation of the natural world, particularly plant life. Leaves, grasses, lichens and organic forms become starting points for sculptural works that do not aim to replicate nature, but rather to evoke its presence, rhythms and balances. Working primarily with ceramics, as well as mixed materials, Victor Levai develops a sensitive and intuitive approach in which form emerges through a constant dialogue between hand, material and environment.
