Lucas Leffler

Born on June 23, 1993, in Virton, Belgium, Lucas Leffler lives and works in Brussels. Having gained extensive experience through his studies in communication and media at Ihecs in 2011 and at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Ghent from 2016 to 2019, he adopts an experimental approach stimulated by a certain fascination with chemistry and the materiality of the image.

Experimentation is at the heart of Lucas Leffler's work process: the strange images and fascinating clouds of matter he produces all stem from a questioning of the nature of photography, its specificities, its chemistry, its mutations, its resistance, and its limits. The material and objectual attributes of photography are systematically questioned and subjected to experimentation.

He has participated in awards such as the CCAP publishing grant in 2019, winners of .tiff 2021, FOMU, and was also a finalist for Picto Lab in 2022.
