YOUNG EUROPEAN ARTISTS

Born in Bayonne in 1997, Laura Dauchet graduates from the Beaux-Arts de Quimper with a DNA in 2019, followed by a Master’s degree in painting from Arba Esa in 2021.

She lives and works in Brussels. Her work as a painter comes from a bulimic photographic interest in our nocturnal urban spaces. During her night-time wanderings, she captures the lights, reflections and colours that evoke the funfair of her childhood.

As well as an aesthetic analysis of the night, her work is tinged with a sociological approach, so much so that the spaces she paints are assimilated to nocturnal politics that differ from daytime politics. Interested in the peripheral zones of the night, disorder, accumulation and triviality are essential elements in her painting.
