Bihua Yang was born in Taiwan and has been living and working between Brussels and Taipei for the past seven years. She studied graphic design at the University of Taiwan before working as a graphic designer for five years. In 2014, she moved to Brussels and turned to painting, initially for a short period before gradually developing a personal practice and settling there permanently.
Inspired by the diversity and atmosphere of Brussels, her work features characters evolving in minimalist spaces that are both familiar and slightly offbeat. These places, charged with a gentle tension, seem to be imbued with a common emotion. Through her images, Bihua Yang composes intimate landscapes, conceived as spaces for pause, projection, and even contemplation. She occasionally collaborates with CUISTAX, a bilingual illustration fanzine for children based in Brussels.
